Jason was HERE!

Last weekend I was lucky enough to have Jason and his smiling face come out for a visit! We had a ball eating out and seeing movies and playing video games for a 4 day extravaganza!

While Jason was here, we tried to sample a variety of local eateries, including Duffy's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Lester's and Chick-Fil-A. We also made home cooked dinners of tacos, grilled chicken and zucchini, and eggs for breakfast every morning. In between all the eating, we also saw a few movies: Hall Pass (go see it, especially if you have the sense of humor of a frat boy and like to laugh out loud in the theater), Take Me Home Tonight (those of us who can sing every 80's song really loved this one), and Cedar Rapids (see the other two first, and if you have money left over, maybe see this one as a matinee).

We tried to go to the City Museum, a.k.a. fun-land for adults, but they were closed. Little did we know that their web site could NOT be trusted, as it said they were open, however we get there only to find out that their "winter hours" are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. We put a hex on the building in disgust and anger, and vowed that Jason now has to come back to visit again to go back there. You should really check out the web site, it's like a playground for adults. Any building that has a bus sticking out of the top if it, not to mention a train car and a fire engine, MUST be visited. [Yes, I know, the hours are on the web site now if you click the link, but those are new.] In order to ease our disappointment, we headed over to the Boogaloo bar for lunch to kill time whist we waited for the movie, Take Me Home Tonight to start. Boogaloo is a fun bar where the bar stools are really swings. They have square pieces of wood that hang from the ceiling via 4 ropes, one in each corner of your seat, along with a rope that ties the bottom of your seat to the floor. You can swing a little bit, but you can't go crazy.

Most of the rest of our free time was filled by playing a corn hole tournament in the driveway ( I think Kyle or Jason won), burp contests, the occasional comparison of what vitamins does to you when you go potty, and of course, Xbox Kinect sports games. Jason and I quickly learned that when standing next to each other playing a physical video game, it is sometimes easier to knock our your opponent in real life than in the game. We played against each other in soccer and realized that while defending your goal, you could also mistakenly take out the other person standing next to you with a quick arm swipe up side of the head. We also did speed bowling, beach volleyball, javelin toss, running hurdles and ping pong. Every night we went to bed sweaty with tired, only to wake up sore with aching feet.

After dropping Jason off at the airport, I came home to quite a few surprises around the house. He had turned many household objects into the letter "J" around the house. The bean bags in the garage were in a J, the books on the bookshelf were in a J, tangerines in the kitchen, pillows on the bed, billiard balls on the pool table, coasters on the bar table...I think I found them all, but have yet to do a full search of the house.

Time flew by so fast while Jason was here. I was so happy to have him spend 4 days with us. He filled my empty tank with smiles and laughter until my cup runneth over. I miss you already and hope you come back to play with us soon.

Until then...I will be practicing all those Kinect games and wielding my powers for good over evil. It's on!!!
