In an effort on both Wednesday and Thursday night that neither moved mountains nor changed the directions of rivers, our coed and women's teams took 2nd place in their respective leagues this season.
Our coed team, after winning the first game of a Wednesday night double-header, turned right around to play the 9:00pm game only to find out that we used all our hits in the first game massacre. We left the field with smiles on our faces, knowing that we had fun, and thinking quietly to ourselves, "our team is cuter than yours anyway." I think it also had something to do with the fact that it was 10:30pm on a Wednesday night and we were all so tired we got slap-happy. Ha.
Not to be outdone, the women's team won our first game Thursday night, only to have a one-game break in between games. We ran out to get food, relax a little, and came back to find out again that it seems we used all of our hits in the first game. Two second place finishes in two days isn't so bad, especially when the next season starts in late August anyway. Seeing all of our girlfriends every Thursday is the reason we play anyway (plus it keeps us out of trouble, or gets us in trouble, depending on how you look at it), winning just makes it more exciting. And yes, our team is cuter than yours.
