Beaches, Planes and Baseball

Really, what more could a girl want?

Kyle and I spent our 3rd anniversary (yes, it's here already) in Monterey. How did we come up with this location you ask? Well, we took a Friday off work, woke up, and after looking at places online, decided Monterey would be our destination for the weekend. We stayed in an older motel in a residential area, right on the point of the bay. It was small and older, but it had a fireplace! No trip to Monterey is complete without the obligatory In N Out stop in Atascadero, so we did.

We spent Friday checking out 17 Mile Drive, the Inn at Spanish Bay, and as much coastline as we could soak up. (Yes, I know we live by the beach already, but this is different.) That night we headed over to the Inn at Spanish Bay to eat dinner at Roy's. While we waited for our table, we were entertained by the bag-pipe player on the grassy knoll who played as the sun sank lower into the ocean. We were able to sit down for dinner just as the sun sank slowly into the ocean. Those 5 minutes made the whole drive up there worth it.

Saturday morning we put our walking shoes on and took off up the beach. We had no plans, just to walk around the beach trails and see what we could see, with every intention of taking a taxi back home from where ever we stopped. We wound up going over 2 miles up the coast to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and then lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. After a full tummy, we decided to walk it off. We walked back towards the hotel, but this time through town instead of on the coast. By the time we got back to the hotel, it was 4 o'clock and we collapsed for a nap.

This was the scenery as you were walking. The air was brisk, the weather was cool, and you could hear waves crashing into the rocks all around you.

On Sunday, Kyle drove me around Carmel and the areas he used to work when he worked the summer golf camps. We moseyed around on Sunday, and stopped at different places on the way home. We even stopped by Pebble Beach on our way out to shop their pro shop and get a glimpse of the beautiful and exquisite golf course. We finally made it home Sunday afternoon, via the In N Out in Santa Maria. It was a great relaxing vacation that made me want to go back again soon.

Last weekend we called up Mom and Dad and met them at the air show. Two words for you: BAD ASS. I love the air show. I love the noise. I love the speed. I love that the planes are so powerful in the air that they make the ground you're standing on shake and your heart shivers in your chest. The best part was that Kyle's friend Matt was actually one of the pilots who flew his plane in for display. We were able to hang out with him for a bit as well and meet his crew.

They even had Reserves there who would paint your face camo-style...

Here's Mom and Dad, looking so cute. Next to them is a picture of Kyle, Dad and Matt.

Last but not least, and because we didn't get sunburned enough at the air show (use sunscreen people!), Mom and I went to an Angel's game this week. The Angels are my team, and it was great to see them up close! We sat on the first base side, 13 rows up. We solidified our experience by having hot dogs, beer, popcorn and even a chocolate malt. "Just another Halo victory!" as the Angels swept the Rangers in their 3 game series.
On our way out, we saw this street sign and I just had to take a picture. It made for a great girls' day out.
Hi Grandma.
