Boring, Relaxing, Wine and The Halos

For the past few weekends, Kyle and I have seen very little of each other. One of us will be working one day, or someone has a softball tournament, or a golf tournament, or baby shower or something. One of us always has to do something. Usually, what little time we do have together is spent on our wonderful couch, in front of our wonderful TV, watching some sort of a sporting event eating whatever kind of food we can find in the fridge since no one has gone to the grocery store in a week. We have been so boring, in fact, that our poor bananas decided to take their fate into their own hands and end their boring existence, in hopes of a more exciting banana heaven.

This past weekend was the first in a long while where we had two whole days to hang out with each other. Friday night we looked at each other, and is absolute shock said, We have nothing to do for two whole days? The sad truth, we had absolutely no idea what we wanted to do. We decided no laundry, no bills, no anything of the sort.

We wound up vegging on the couch most of Saturday morning, followed by watching two movies: The Libertine, with Johnny Depp, and The World's Fastest Indian, with Anthony Hopkins. Come 3:00pm, we decided it was time to brush our teeth and head out into the world. We went to the gym for 2 hours, then stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few things. We came home and Kyle made a wonderful dinner of sauteed steak in red wine and balsamic vinegar, baked asparagus, french bread, and a bottle of red wine I had picked up at the store earlier. We even dressed up for the occassion. It was a great way to end a do-nothing perfect Saturday.

Sunday morning, not to be outdone by Saturday, we woke up, jumped out of bed and headed down to Angel Stadium to catch a game vs. the Rangers. Kyle knows I love the Angels, and suggested we hit the road to catch a game. Of course, the game is sold out and we have no tickets, but what the heck. We get down there and buy 2 tickets from a nice young man standing outside the gates, who just happens to have a stack of tickets for sale! We got to sit field level, right next to the left field foul pole, and watched the Angels spank the Rangers 9-1. Beer and hotdogs were consumed, as well as sunflower seeds and peanuts. It was a great way to catch some sun and relax. Just Another Halo Victory!

We capped the night off by sharing a perfect dinner of high-class Stouffer's French Bread Pizza. I figure these weekends come once a month, so you have to do them up right.
